We offer quality care before and after school for your child. Our hours of operation are 7 AM to 6 PM. We serve a nutritious breakfast from 7 AM to 7:45 AM. The breakfast menu is posted in Kitchen A. A drop-in breakfast is $2/day or $25/month. We release the children at 8 AM, so they can arrive to their class on time when the first bell rings at 8:05 AM. TK’s, K’s, and 1st graders are walked to their classrooms.
When the dismissal bell rings at 2:30 PM (and 1:30 PM on Wednesday), we are ready for our children. They check in at the front door and put their backpacks and belongings in their cubbies. They wash hands and have snack. Next is outside play, where each child will have an “all check” teacher to check in with. This provides additional safety, as well as a staff member who will be each child’s mentor. At 3:15 PM, we call homework for 1st – 5th grade. We have two separate spaces for Homework Club, so our children have a quiet work environment. We do not check children’s homework, but our teachers are available for homework assistance and will help keep them focused on their school work. Please check your child’s homework at home. If you are interested in Homework Club, please fill out our Homework Contract to ensure that your child attends each day.
At 3:30 PM, the children still on the playground check in with their “all check” teacher and gather to hear what activities we have planned for the day. Activities include science, engineering, art, open-ended art, sports, outside games, and more. As children come back from homework, they join in the many activities we have planned. We clean up at 4:30 PM and enjoy another snack. The children go back outside until 5:15 PM. After that, they may work on additional homework or enjoy tabletop activities. Our center closes at 6 PM.
If you decide to place your child in our program, our Enrollment Packet needs to be filled out prior to your child starting. This packet includes emergency information, authorized persons to pick up, and health information. All of our forms are available on our website. There is a $75 family registration fee due when your child is signed up and every year after.
Our program is a fun, safe, and creative place where your child will explore a variety of interesting subjects, ideas, and topics using a variety of materials. Our emphasis is on learning-through-play. Your child will make long-lasting friendships and develop positive social skills.
All childcare fees are pre-paid for the month. Payment is due on the first working day of the month. If not received by the close of business on the 10th, a 10% late fee will be assessed to your account. Our method of payment is Tuition Express, an automated payment method.
Each child has a cubby where they will put their backpack, lunch, extra clothing, and artwork.
Snacks at VVCC are provided by the center using nutritious foods. The snack menu is posted in the Kitchen B. If your child requires any special dietary snacks or additional snacks, you need to provide them for your child.
If you are late to pick up your child, your account will be assessed a late fee of $10 per 10 minutes. Please pick up your child on time.
Communication is vital to the safety of your child. Please call VVCC to advise us of illness or non-attendance, and remember to use the clipboard in the sign in/out area to indicate any changes in your child’s schedule for that day.
Family files are established in the sign in/out area by family name. The files are maintained as a designated place for you to receive center information, which includes payment receipts, etc. In addition, VVCC sends out a monthly email that will keep you updated on VVCC activities.
Attendance & Wellness Check
We understand absences occur for a variety of reasons, but there are no refunds due to illness, non-attendance, or after school activities. For an extended illness, please contact the Center Director, Christine Muller. Your child may not attend VVCC if he/she was absent from school due to illness. We are responsible for ensuring that children with obvious signs of illness are not accepted into the center. If a child shows signs of illness, the parent/guardian will be called, and the child will be isolated until his/her departure.
State licensing regulations require that we keep all medication under lock and key. If it is necessary for a child to take medicine while at VVCC, the parent/guardian must complete and return our Medication Consent Form. Note: All medications must be stored in the original box/packaging, with unaltered labels. All prescription medications must contain the child’s name and prescription on the packaging. Please be sure to check the medication’s expiration date.
Signing In & Out
It is state regulations that each child is signed in and out of the center. Your child is signed in when they arrive at VVCC and signed out by your authorized person when they leave the center. Each person who will be picking up your child will need his/her fingerprint scanned for our secure sign in/out computer system. We must be notified in advance if anyone not on your paperwork is picking up your child. They will need photo ID.
VVE Enrichment Program
Enrichment classes are run through the VVE PTA. If your child is attending any enrichment classes, please fill out our Enrichment Activity Form.
